The university and the City of Binghamton have posted the reward as police continue to investigate the incident that resulted in the death of 20-year-old Stefani Lineva.

Authorities believe Lineva was hit by a vehicle around 2 a.m. Saturday on Route 434, about two-and-a-half miles east of the Binghamton University campus in the Town Vestal.

Lineva was found lying in the eastbound lane of the highway. She was pronounced dead a short time later at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.

University President Harvey Stenger on Monday morning announced the reward was being offered in an effort to elicit information that would lead investigators to the driver involved in the hit-and-run death.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Stenger said "somebody out there knows something."

Stenger asked anyone who may know anything about the incident to contact police.

The university president said authorities are "pursuing this as quickly and as aggressively as we can."

Binghamton police are being assisted by Binghamton University Police and the Broome County Sheriff's Office in following leads in the investigation.

People with information may contact the Binghamton Police Detective Bureau at 607.772.7080.
