Fads come and go, even when it comes to food and fast food. Check out some discontinued menu items from McDonald's. How many of these do you remember?

  1. McSalad Shakers - These were discontinued in 2003 and replaced with their premium salad line which is still around today.
  2. McHot Dog - I don't remember the hot dogs ever. Do you? They're still offered at certain locations in Japan, though.
  3. Hula Burger - This burger was designed as an alternative for Catholic customers who couldn't eat meat on Fridays during the season of Lent. A pineapple was the patty with cheese on top. This sandwich didn't go over very well.
  4. Mighty Wings - They started selling the wings in 1990. But they stopped selling them in 2003 because they never sold great and they were pricey. People tended to go for the much easy to eat chicken nugget.
  5. Fried Apple Pies -  Yes there still are apple pies, but they are baked. They stopped deep frying them in 1992.
  6. Super Size Fries - Most of us have seen the documentary "Super Size Me".  Apparently that was the demise of McDonald's super size fry option. By 2004, the size option was no longer on the menu and you don't hear them say "Do you want that super-sized" anymore.
  7. Arch Deluxe - It was their attempt at a luxury burger. In case you never had one, it had a honey mustard type sauce, beef patty on a potato roll, lettuce, tomato, red onion and cheese. It wasn't embraced.
  8. McPizza - Even Louie G the king of pizza never tried McDonald's pizza...this could be why it was discontinued.
  9. Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry - It is available in some international markets. This sounds great...they should bring this one back!
  10. Triple-Double Burger - Introduced in 1995, this burger had three beef patties and two slices of cheese and was served on the sesame seed roll. Can you say TOO MUCH?!
  11. Onion Nuggets - These came before the chicken nuggets, back in the 70's. They didn't go over, clearly not like chicken nuggets did and still do!
  12. Eggs Benedict McMuff - Similar to the McMuffin breakfast sandwich but a little different but it was sadly discontinued.
  13. McStuffins - These were along the lines of a Much like a Hot Pocket, and were sold for a short time in 1993. They were quickly discontinued after poor sales.
  14. The McDLT -  The McDLT was supposed to rival Burger King's Whopper, but it failed.
  15. Grilled Cheese Happy Meal - I don't remember this one at all either and I thought all kids liked grilled cheese! But sales show otherwise.

How many of these do you remember? Which one(s) would you like to see come back?
