Road Troubles Continue in Twin Tiers

Several roads around the Twin Tiers are still closed, including in Tioga County, New York and Bradford County, Pennsylvania were numerous roads have been reported washed out.

In Tioga County, Route 17 East and West from Exit 63 to Exit 62 between Nichols and Lounsberry is closed indefinitely due to damage to the bridge near Kirby Park.  Detours have been set up.

Tioga Downs says the casino is open but people planning to attend the rescheduled 38 Special benefit concert July 28 at 8 p.m. should leave early to negotiate the detour.  The casino says the detour adds less than 10 minutes onto the time to get into or leave the resort.

Elsewhere in Tioga County, several roads are expected to be, in the words of the Sheriff’s Office “closed for a while.”  A listing of roads involved can be found at the Tioga County Sheriff’s website.

Reports out of Bradford County have indicated many areas south of Nichols are impassible with access, even on some back roads between Warren Center and Windham Township, possibly to Wysox questionable from day to day.
