Let's get down to brass tacks: If you weren't Taylor Swift at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, you were essentially an afterthought. But will a different chart-topper knock the reigning queen off her throne this year?

This morning (April 11), Billboard announced its new crop of nominees (or "finalists") for the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, and though T. Swift has, again, landed quite a collection of noms, she's surrounded by a hell of lot of competition. After a banner year, The Weeknd has 19 nominations including Top Artist, Top 100 Artist and Top Sales Artist; Justin Bieber follows closely behind with 12 and Drake and Fetty Wap both have 11. Swift and Adele have eight nominations apiece.

Ludacris and Ciara are slated to host the show from Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena on May 22.

Check out some of the show's biggest categories below, see the full list here and share your thoughts on the 2016 talent in the comments.
