MTV announced the nominees for the network's upcoming 2016 MTV Video Music Awards today (July 26) via Facebook Live. Beyonce leads the nominations with an impressive total of 11, while Adele trails just behind her with eight nods.

The highly coveted award for Video of the Year is fraught with competition this year, as some of music's biggest stars -- Adele, Beyonce, Drake, Justin Bieber and Kanye West -- will go head-to-head for the honor.

Other artists nominated include The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Sia, Rihanna and the late David Bowie, who received four posthumous nominations.

Check out the full list of nominations below and head over to MTV's official site to vote for your faves. Be sure to tune in when the MTV Video Music Awards air on August 28.
