You think you're through those awkward years after middle school when you finally enter into high school but high school can be terrible too. The bullies are still cruel, the exams becoming more demanding for college applications, but there is a bright side to being in high school. Prom!

Prom is one memory from high school you want to remember forever. You'll always remember your date, that one special song you danced to and your dress.

Unfortunately, the dress can be the most expensive part of the night. It's something you'll probably only wear once and most people spend a lot on it.

So what are some inexpensive tips for prom?

Budget Range: There's absolutely no pressure to spend $1000 for one night. Set a budget you can handle for your transportation, attire and dinner.

Sharing is Caring: Don't forget to check with your older siblings, cousins or friends for a dress. It will save you a ton of money on the big night. Return it and recycle for a younger friend. This works for jewelry too.

Hairstyles for Less: In the Binghamton area, we have hundreds of students that attend BOCES for cosmetology. Ask one of the students to do your hair and make-up for a lower cost than salons charge.

DYI: Do-it-yourself has become big thanks to Pinterest. There are homemade corsages you can make. Check them out.

Eat In: Create a meal among your friends and encourage each of them to bring a dish to pass.

The night can still be special without breaking the bank.
