How do you fall asleep at night? Is it watching TV? Maybe it’s checking your Facebook one last time before you get some shut eye. Well did you know, all that screen time can affect your sleep patterns?According to a Huffington Post article, the light that shines from the electronic device’s screen does a number on our body’s internal clock therefore we sleep less. If you’re the type of person who can’t put down their phone throughout the day, you’re probably not sleeping well.

So how do we sleep better?

  1. Don’t let your news feed run your life. Checking Facebook twice a day will probably result in better sleep at night and less drama in our lives too!
  2. Turn off the tube. A little TV at night is a good way to relax and take our minds off the long, stressful day but turn it off a good hour before heading to bed.
  3. Goodnight Gamers.  Video games are probably one of the worse electronics to get addicted to. Schedule a small amount of time to play and then shut it down! You can always pick it up tomorrow!
  4. Disconnect: Tablets, laptops and iPads are hard to put down but you will thank yourself if you disconnect more frequently than you engage in them throughout the day. Yes, even using them during the early hours of the day can affect your night’s sleep.
  5. Be Smarter. That smartphone might be tempting to pick up but don’t do it! The more willpower you have the less likely you are to check it every ten minutes.
