Can’t get rid of that dry, flaky skin? Do you have those lips and hands that crack and bleed? It’s just not attractive during those harsh winter months.

Love To Know has created a list of how to stay moisturized during the dry season.

  1. Healthy Choices. Foods with Omega-3 fatty acids provide moisture your skin can absorb. Examples: salmon, walnuts, olive oil.
  2. Vitamins. Take supplements for your skin’s needs. Fish oil rejuvenates younger and healthier skin.
  3. Hydrate from within. Obviously, drink more water but avoid hot water (intake and hot showers). You would think with the cold weather that a nice hot cup of hot chocolate or hot tea is ideal. Wrong! The intake of hot beverages is a major no no and can lead to loss of moisture.
  4. Humidifiers. If you’re known for cranking the heat turned up often it’s probably a good idea to restore moisture into your home with one of these.
  5. Lotions. Lather up after a shower and throughout the day to seal in the moisture.
  6. Sunscreen. Even during the winter months, sunscreen is important. Use at least a 30 SPF daily.
  7. Special Ingredients. Look for lotions with oatmeal. It may sound crazy but oatmeal can repair skin and is good for facial moisturizers too. Natural oils such as shea butter, coconut oil or argan oil are a great source for replenishing your skin and dry scalp. Adding essential oils such as lavender and chamomile oil to your nightly routine can increase your sleep and help restore your skin at bedtime.

Use these tips to keep yourself soft and young-looking.  Your skin will thank you.
