If your kids aren't out of school for the summer yet, they will be soon and while it's nice to have more time with them, it can also be tough coming up with things that will capture their attention and burn off their energy.

If you're looking for something fun and educational (and energy burning) that you can do with the kids, you're going to love what the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier has up their sleeve- an old fashion summer carnival and even better, it'll be Oz themed!

You and your kids are invited to celebrate the end of the school year and the official start to the Discovery Center’s summer season with their Oz themed Summer Carnival on Thursday, June 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the best part (especially the way things have been around here lately) is that the carnival will happen rain or shine.

The Discovery Center and Story Garden will turn into Munchkin Land with games, contests, entertainment and special events both inside and out. Your kids will love the Oz-themed carnival booths where they can win prizes and the DJ party where they'll be able to dance their little hearts out. There will also be a very special “Marvel’s Magic Show!

After the kids have finished playing, they can join Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow for some food and treats under the outdoor food tent.

Admission to the Wizard of Oz Carnival Day is $5 for members and $9 for those who aren't members. All of the carnival games, Munchkin Land activities, entertainment, contests, and prizes are included with admission but plan to bring some money if you think the kids will want food.

If you want to make the day even more of an experience, feel free to dress up as your favorite Oz character!
