I thought I had the meanest mom in the entire world when I was a teen in the 1990's. My mom wouldn't let me wear those leggings with the lace on the bottom because she said it looked like I was wearing a girdle on my legs. She wouldn't let me spend my entire baby-sitting paycheck on Doc Martens and she wouldn't let me have tooth gems put on my recently braces free teeth. Yep, I had the meanest mom, ever.

The day is here that I longed for as a teen- I'm an adult and can make my own decisions- my mom can't tell me what to do. And isn't it funny that I have an opportunity to live one of my teenage dreams and as an adult, I'd never actually do it?

I don't know if you've noticed, but many trends and fads of the '90s are back with a vengeance, and while some of the comebacks excite me, there are others that I think would probably be best left in the generation they came from. Like tooth gems. That's right, tooth gems are back.

In case you don't remember what tooth gems are, they're small pieces of jewelry that are glued to individual teeth with the same stuff orthodontists attach braces to teeth with.

I can't slam on this trend too much considering I once wanted to be part of it, but I do find it funny how some things have a way of making their way full circle. Need proof this has really made a comeback? Instagram is being flooded with photos of people who are sporting tooth gems.

If your teen self wanted to embrace this trend, but your mean parents wouldn't let you and if you still really want to do this, please just don't try to do it yourself. Go to a proper place to get it done, like a dentist office.
