Yesterday was the anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln's assassination. He was at the Ford Theatre watching Our American Cousin, but where was the Secret Service that night?

Well, according to Yahoo! News, the reason the Secret Service was not protecting him was because right before he left to go the theatre he signed a bill to create the Secret Service.

President Lincoln did have a security guard though, but where was he? John Parker, the missing bodyguard, initially left his position to watch the play, and then he went to the saloon next door for intermission.

No one knows where Parker was during the assassination, but he wasn’t at his position at the door to the booth, according to Smithsonian Magazine.

We all know that person who, when we need them, they are at the bar!
