There is a possibility a vote could come before the end of the year after all on a proposal to accept New York State funding to open a drug addiction treatment facility at the former Broome Developmental Center in the Town of Dickinson.

Following a delay, legislative chairman Daniel Reynolds has announced a Committee-of-the-Whole meeting will happen on December 27th to take up the issue with a possible vote following that meeting.

If legislators do not approve the proposal that meeting, the item would have to be reintroduced next year.

New York State has approved a $2.7 million dollar allocation to start a treatment and rehabilitation facility at the BDC.

Officials from Syracuse Behavioral Health, which is tapped to operate the facility, and the New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services are slated to be at the 4 p.m. meeting on the 27th.
