While a giant auditorium full of wealthy celebrities may seem like a safe place to abandon your purse unattended for a short amount of time, that apparently wasn't the case for Amanda Abbington during last night's (September 18) 2016 Emmy Awards.

The Sherlock actress, who plays Mary Watson on the BBC series, claims her purse was stolen during last night’s awards show, when she joined the rest of her cast mates onstage to collect the Emmy for Outstanding Television Movie for Sherlock: The Abominable Bride.

The Mr. Selfridge actress tweeted about the alleged theft hours after the ceremony concluded.

"Thanks for the lovely tweets re; the Emmy's. So pleased we won! Cool, right?” she began. "However, we went up to collect the Emmy, did some press, came back to my seat and some bastard had nicked my purse from under my seat. Nice.”

Abbington continued, saying the purse contained both her phone and driver's license.

"Had my phone and driver's license in it," she wrote. "So whoever took my purse, I hope some terrible Karmic sh---t happens to you. How crappy is that."

Abbington even indicated that she stuck around the venue long after the show until it emptied out, hoping to find her purse somewhere in the room -- to no avail.

"No, I hung around until everyone had left the auditorium," she tweeted, in response to a concerned fan. "Nothing there."
