Another Long-Time Broome County Restaurant Closes

Binghamton-area diners have lost yet another restaurant that had been a local fixture.

Mama Giuseppa's in Endicott has served its last customers after operating at the corner of North Street and South Liberty Avenue for more than 15 years.

Owner Albert Hecker said the restaurant closed last Saturday. Hecker opened the business in August 2001 when he was 26 years old.

Hecker and his wife, Molly McGoff, are planning to move to Colorado Springs, where they'll focus on selling sauces and spreads.

McGoff said closing the restaurant on Saturday evening was "bittersweet." She said she and her husband will miss their customers.

While those who visited for the final weekend were sad, McGoff said they "totally understand" the couple's decision to concentrate on the sauce business.

McGoff said Mama Giuseppa Pasta Sauce products will continue to be available at specialty stores in the Binghamton area. They'll also still be sold at the Broome County Regional Farmers Market in the town of Dickinson.
