Smoky Fire Damages Binghamton East Middle School

A spectacular fire damaged a section of Binghamton's East Middle School.

The two-alarm blaze at the school at 167 East Frederick Street was reported around 2:45 p.m. July 23.

Former Broome County resident David Sweat is said to be speaking with police after his capture following his escape from a maximum-security state prison.
