I freaking LOVEEEEE incredible Christmas light displays!!! I personally would never ever do one myself, mostly because of the money and time it takes to do it all hahah! And the light shows have really stepped up in the past few years with music being added so the lights dance to a beat!

So why go through ALL the hassle of decorating your own home with Christmas lights, when you can just drive around Binghamton & find incredible displays right here!

Now for anyone new to the area such as myself, or for those who simply weren't aware of the incredible displays we have here in Binghamton, here is a list of LOCAL, incredible Christmas light displays!

The Hometown Holiday Lights Festival:

The Southern Tier Independence Center (STIC) puts on a 1.5 mile Christmas lights display to raise money for its charitable organization. The festival takes place at OtsinengoPark off of Bevier Street; It started on November 24th, but runs all the way until December 31st! (5-9 pm nightly).

Now it is $8/per car, however all proceeds go directly to STIC in order to help people with disabilities be empowered to control their own lives, and to provide assistance and services to people with disabilities to help them increase their independence.

You can see everything from Santa and his reindeer, to carolers, penguins jumping into water, a toy train, gingerbread people and houses, even a flashing candy cane tunnel you drive through to exit the park!!! While this may not be the RockefellerCenter Christmas light display, it is a great tradition of BroomeCounty!

Home for the Holidays Light Display:

This international Christmas tree and light display happens at the RobersonMuseum and ScienceCenter (30 Front St.) from November 17th to December 31st. While walking through the museum you will see the InternationalForest, a beautiful display of decorated trees from across the nations decorated according to a specific culture!

& what is a light display without Santa?! Santa will be at the museum on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 pm until Dec. 23rd. Not only do you get to have your kids meet Santa and see a great light display, but they also get to enjoy/learn about the historic Roberson mansion, which is easily accessed through the museum.

Members of the museum and children 4 and under receive free admission into the museum. The cost for students is $5 and for adults it is $7.
