Sleeping your summer break away is so 2014. So whether it's your first gig or your 5th, here is a list of handy tips and ideas to get you on track to having the greatest summer ever!

Local pools and YMCAs are always on the hunt for life guards, especially during the summer months when most people are looking to beat the heat. If you're a strong swimmer and enjoy a challenge, this could be your best bet!

Completion of certificate courses such as first aid & CPR, are typically limited to teens 15 and older and mandatory for most, if not all, life guards. According to Forbes, you could except to be earning anywhere from $9-$10 dollars per hour. Plus a wicked, awesome tan!

Do you know Caillou, Swiper, and DJ Lance? Can you repeat yourself 50 times without losing your cool? Does a toddler tea party sound like your idea of a rad day? If you answered yes to any of these then congratulations, you might make an awesome nanny!

Babysitters and nannies are in high demand during the summer months since most working parents are desperate for childcare. This is the dream job for highly responsible teens with a nurturing spirit, and those interested in pursuing an education degree in the future. Positions like these tend to pay pretty well, generally around $10-$15 per hour depending on your experience, and are usually under the table cash.

Even though positions with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson aren't available, that doesn't mean you can't make some decent money as a golf caddy this summer! A job like this is ideal for teens that enjoy being outdoors, and don't mind a little grunt work.

Of course you'll have to have an understanding of the sport, some upper body strength, and great walking shoes, but you'll walk away $50-$100 richer by the end of the day.
