All the workouts, training and hours spent in preparation for a new season are about to hopefully pay off for the Binghamton Bearcats basketball teams.   Binghamton's men open their 2014-15 season this Saturday at 2:00 PM (1:50 air on News Radio 1290 WNBF) by hosting the Mansfield State Mountaineers at the Events Center.

One of the key components of this season's Bearcats will be guard Marlon Beck.  Now a sophomore, Beck garnered plenty of experience as a freshman playing both the point and shooting guard positions.  He started 20 of the 29 regular season games.  Beck averaged 9.2 points per game which was fourth on the team.  He also led the Bearcats in assists with 83, an average of 2.86 per contest.

Beck will share point guard duties with another sophomore, Yosef Yacob.  The pair gives Binghamton a solid combination in the backcourt and also depth should one be in foul trouble or injured.

Following Saturday's game the Bearcats host Oswego next Friday, November 7 at 8:00 PM as part of a doubleheader.  Prior to that game at 5:30 the BU women open their season hosting Mansfield (5:15 PM on News Radio 1290 WNBF).  Then the men head on the road to play at Notre Dame on Friday, November 14 and at Providence on  Monday, November 17.
