A man accused of repeatedly stabbing his wife in their Binghamton home has been indicted on seven felony counts.

Authorities said 35-year-old Mike Rivera Jr. was arrested shortly after police were called to a residence on Berlin Street in the First Ward on December 16.

Rivera on Friday was indicted by a Broome County grand jury on attempted murder, assault and attempted assault charges. He also faces two counts of strangulation and single counts of sexual abuse and unlawful imprisonment.

Police investigators said Rivera's wife sustained several stab wounds and other injuries in the attack.

Detectives said Rivera was taken into custody by city police patrol officers on Floral Avenue.
