Authorities say 51-year-old Jeffrey Martin of Henry Street has been taken into custody.

Investigators say Martin has been charged in connection with two incidents. They say he is the lone suspect in several other forced-entry burglaries in which electronics equipment and valuables were stolen.

Martin was charged with burglary for a break-in early Tuesday at the Metro Plaza Apartments at 110 Chenango Place. He is accused of entering the building and its recreation room. Several large screen televisions, an amplifier and other electronic devices were stolen.

Martin also has been charged with attempted burglary for allegedly trying to break into law offices at 188 Court Street on May 28.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the recent series of downtown break-ins and they expect Martin will faces charges in connection with those incidents.

Police say they don't believe Martin is linked to the copper thefts that have occurred at several homes on Binghamton's South Side over the past week.
