There soon will be no tigers at Ross Park Zoo in Binghamton.

Officials at the Binghamton zoo have announced that sister Amur Tigers, Koosaka and Terney are being sent to separate zoos in Pennsylvania for breeding as part of the Species Survival Plan.  The tigers are going to Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

The 8 year old girls were born in the same litter at the Philadelphia Zoo in 2007, spent some time in Montana and moved in at the Morgan Road, Binghamton zoo in 2012.

The tigers are due to leave November 17.

Zoo officials say they aren’t sure at this point what animal may take up residence in the tiger exhibit.

The Binghamton zoo is now only open on weekends through November 29.
