Police in Pennsylvania are reporting an alleged homicide that sounds like something ripped from a script for a TV crime drama.

State Police say at around 10 a.m. August 22, 38 year old Tammy Fox was driving her Hyundai Sonata in Scranton when the vehicle accelerated, crossed through an intersection and slammed into a tree.

A witness said the car was going about 60 mph, the brake lights flashed but the vehicle didn't slow down.

Fox died as a result of serious injuries sustained in the crash.

During their investigation, troopers say they found the brake lines had been cut and Fox's boyfriend, John Jenkins, Jr. of Dunmore admitted cutting the lines at their home in an attempt to obtain a metal pipe that could be used to smoke crack cocaine.

Court documents report Jenkins telling authorities that Fox was "driving him crazy" looking for a crack pipe and he didn't want to go to a store to buy one, so he began cutting at the bottom of Fox's vehicle to get a piece of metal to use instead.

Jenkins was charged with criminal homicide and sent to the Lackawanna County Correctional Facility.
