Despite the fact that the same rumor comes circling around every single year, Britney Spears fans still work (bitch) themselves up only to let themselves down again.

After "sources" confirmed to the New York Daily News that the Piece Of Me performer's team was having "secret discussions" to headline the Super Bowl LII halftime show in Minneapolis next February, the Internet exploded with headlines all-but-confirming the news.

The only problem? It's...not happening.

During a panel on Wednesday afternoon (Jul. 12) at the 2017 VenuesNow conference at the Beverly Hilton, MAC Presents president Marcie Allen asked Justin Toman, Pepsi’s Senior Director of Sports Marketing, which artist would be playing at next year's show.

And while he didn't volunteer an answer, he did rule out one entertainer in particular.

"I can tell you it's not Britney. That rumor happens at this time every year," he responded, confirming that the Glory pop icon will indeed not being doing the Super Bowl halftime show. Yet again.

There's always next year. And trust, the rumor will come around again.
