The history and the future of Binghamton's Forum Theatre are discussed on the March 4 edition of the weekly, local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up.

Friends of the Forum Theatre members Ron Sall and Robin Alpaugh talk about the progress of the area's performing arts center from a vaudeville theater to a top-quality venue for intimate concerts, traveling Broadway shows, the Tri-Cities Opera and comedians.

The interior of the building in Downtown Binghamton off Henry Street retains its historic features but many renovations and upgrades have been needed over the years, including making the stage door bigger to accommodate larger sets and equipment for more elaborate shows.

That costs money so Alpaugh and Sall say the Friends of the Forum are hosting their largest event to date as March 19th as Broadway in Binghamton presents "Jersey Boys."  The "Oh What a Night" gala for the opening performance will feature a cocktail party at teh Metro Center, limousine service to the theater, choice seating for the show, dessert reception and a meet and great with the show's cast.

Proceeds from "Oh What a Night" will help pay for a hearing loop to make hearing easier for those with hearing issues.
