Broome County’s Police Memorial Week is Underway
Police memorial week is underway in the Southern Tier.
Events started May 1 with the annual Police Memorial Hockey Game.
A memorial service was held May 3 at Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City to honor officers who have died in the line of duty.
Events continue May 4 with a silent procession of police vehicles from the Northgate Plaza on Upper Front Street to a flag raising and wreath-laying ceremony at the Broome County Public Safety Facility.
The annual police memorial breakfast is being held at the Holiday Inn in downtown Binghamton May 5.
May 6 is the annual police golf tournament and the week wraps up with a display of law enforcement equipment, demonstrations and information at the Oakdale Mall May 7-9.
A child safety seat inspection will be held in the east side mall parking lot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 9.
