Chris Thater Memorial This Weekend. Exciting, Free Fun for the Family

This weekend at Binghamton's Recreation Park, it's the Chris Thater Memorial cycling and running event, along with its music festival and expo.  In its 29th year, the race attracts over 1,500 participants from local athletes to world-class competitors with crowds of over 10,000 spectators. The Chris Thater Memorial is dedicated in memory of Chris Thater, an avid cyclist, who was killed by a drunk driver, according to the Broome County website.  The Chris Thater Memorial consists of the Pro, Elite and Novice cycling events, and a national class 5K Run. The event also features a music festival and a large Expo area with numerous vendor displays, full concession, entertainment, sports/health clinics, demonstrations and other youth sports and special events.

The free music festival features two days of live music, in a variety of genres.
