The 40th season of the Cider Mill Playhouse in Endicott is about to get underway.

Appearing on the August 29 edition of the weekly local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up, actors Josh Sedelmeyer of Endicott and Danny Lindgren enthusiastically describe the preparations for the opening show, The 39 Steps and their complicated roles in the production.  The pair outline the basic storyline of the adaptation of an Alfred Hitchcock novel and how Monty Python-style humor fits in.

Lindgren is also a member of the Actors' Equity Association, the union of professional actors, and talks about the blend of union and non-union performers at the Cider Mill and the challenges of drawing Equity actors to a small, intimate theater.

Sedelmeyer and Lindgren continue their level of enthusiasm as they run down the whole list of shows for the season and talk about the Fresh Cider Teen Acting Intensive that exposes young people to all aspects of the theater.

The 39 STEPS runs September 10-27 at the theater behind the Cider Mill at 2 S. Nanticoke Ave., Endicott.  The box office phone number is (607) 748-7363.  Information is also available online at www.cidermillplayhouse.org.

Southern Tier Close Up can be heard Sunday at 6am on Wild 104.
