Coming Soon: Pet Of The Week!

If you have ever listened to the show then you know I am a BIG animal person! I grew up having two great kitties (Tigger & Buttons!) and now have three dogs with my boyfriend; Jax (black lab), Nikko (pitbull) & Lola (toy fox terrier)!!!

Nikko is our most well behaved dog, and he and Jax were actually both rescued from a shelter in Rochester! With how many dogs (and cats) there are in pounds now a days it seems wasteful to buy an animal when you can rescue one.

That is why I teamed up with Broome County Humane Society to start 'Pet Of The Week!' We will feature both cats and dogs who are at the shelter and have been there for some time. There will be videos, photos, contact info, descriptions, etc!

Now one of your main arguments for not rescuing maybe that you want an animal from puppy or kitten stage and raise it yourself. However, you are not thinking about the true benefits of having an already potty trained animal, that just wants love and affection for its last few years. Also, Broome County Humane Society does have newborn kittens and puppies as young as 10 months so if a younger animal is what you're looking for, they have them!!

I went to the humane society yesterday to see the facility, hangout with the animals and just get to know them!! Below is Linguine & Fettuccine, two of the most ADORABLE kittens I have ever held!

The one I am holding is Fettuccine and he kept pawing at the cage door to have my play with him, it was the cutest thing! And then would nibble on my pointer finger because he was teething!!! OH MY GOODNESS such a sweet kitten! And his brother, Linguine was definitely the mellow one, but still loved playing!!

There are also a ton of volunteer opportunities at the facility. Everything from house keeping, dog grooming, dog walking, cat grooming, fundraising, fostering, etc. I signed up to be a dog walker a couple times a week so I could seethe dogs, play with them and let them know they are loved!!!

Now I wont be starting the video for a week or two, but currently the humane society is having an adoption deal until Thanksgiving!!!
