Organizers of the Almost Annual New York State Crappie Derby is planning to hold the ice-fishing tournament in Whitney Point on Saturday, February 18.

The event draws not only hundreds of anglers, but far more spectators and families to Whitney Point Lake.

In addition to prizes for fish caught, there are games, door prizes, skating and other outdoor activities on the ice.

There is a $2 fee for those over the age of 12 who want to participate in the derby but many of the other events are free.
