Decorating? Do It With Ease!

People decorate their Christmas tree at ALL different times; some go the day after Thanksgiving, others wait until Christmas Eve to decorate! Regardless of when you decorate, there are a few tips and tricks to make decorating the tree a little less pain in the ass.

Now this mostly works for real trees only, however, if you have a fake tree that doesn't just set up when you pop it up, then this can help too! My boyfriend, Rob and I decorated our Christmas tree this past weekend, the fifth one we have gotten together!! And If I do say so myself, this beauty gets better & better every year!

Well according to Better Homes & Gardens (and who better to take decorating home advice from, than them haha!) if you follow these three easy, simple steps to decorating your tree then you should have no problem !!

1. Hang the Christmas Tree lights - I know it seems even pointless to say, but I know people who put them on last to make "the tree shine more"... seriously haha! Illuminating your Christmas tree from the inside out will give it the most dynamic look. Start at the base of the trunk and work your way up, wrapping lights around every major branch, moving from the trunk to the tip and back.

2. Add Christmas Tree garland - There are no firm rules for decorating a Christmas tree when it comes to draping garland. Start at the top of the tree, and slowly increase the amount of garland between each wave as you work your way down the branches. To avoid a busy look on your tree, decorate your Christmas tree with a variety of garlands from plain to fancy. Thin, beaded garlands look best hung from branch to branch; thicker paper, ribbon, or foil garlands look best wrapped loosely around the entire tree.

3. Hang the Christmas Tree ornaments - With this step, I suggest more or less just going nuts and putting them wherever you please! However, according to BH&G, to showcase your favorites, place them in prime positions on the tree first. Next, hang your larger ornaments, spacing them evenly around the tree. Fill in around those ornaments with medium- and small-size ornaments. Be sure to hang some ornaments closer to the trunk to create depth and interest.
