It seems like the entire country has been experiencing the cold and frigid temperatures within the past couple of weeks. Some areas are lucky to see the thermometer reach above zero degrees while others are lucky if they can catch a break from the knee deep snow!

No matter where you live in the world, you can’t change the climate and you can’t ignore the long icicles that keep building up on your home.

Have you took notice in the morning when the icicles are barely there and by evening they’re practically hanging on the ground?

You may think that it’s looks pretty neat but the icicles can actually be damaging your house! So what are some dangerous situations icicles can lead to?

  • Frozen Water Pipes: The low temps can freeze your pipes overnight and you wake up with no sign of water!
  • Ice Dams: Can cause damage to floors, ceilings and walls.
  • Problems to gutters and drains: Icicles on your gutters can cause them to break or crack.

Best prevention to avoid the damages are to:

  • Leave water dripping: A tiny drip will save your water pipes from freezing.
  • Allow heat access to pipelines: Leaving your cabinet doors open can also help avoid frown pipelines.
  • Disconnect your hose: When fall hits it’s best to put your house up during winter months.
  • Invest in a snow rake: Get as much snow and ice off the roof as possible.

Believe it or not these problems can cost you a pretty penny. By following those precautions you will save yourself time and money.
