In a survey of 1,000 plus adults by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society 96 percent of everyone who'd volunteered said it had been good for their social life, with 10 percent finding romance and 6 percent even ending up with a wife.

And the perks weren't just social: A whopping 75 percent said volunteering had contributed directly to physical fitness. Volunteers also reaped career benefits, like new job skills to beef up their resumes. In fact, 10 percent were offered new jobs in their own fields, and 8 percent decided to change careers as a result of their volunteer work. (Men's Fitness)
