Authorities say 43-year-old Carrie Wilson of Owego was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated. She also was issued additional traffic tickets. She was arrested at 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to state police, several callers contacted the Tioga County 911 Center to report a wrong-way driver on the expressway near Exit 66 in Apalachin. The vehicle was heading east in the westbound lanes.

Troopers found Wilson sleeping in the vehicle, which was stopped in the middle of Route 17 with its engine running.

Investigators say Wilson's blood alcohol content was measured at 0.22 percent.

Wilson was ordered to appear in Owego town court on September 15.

Police did not indicate how many miles they believed Wilson had been driving the wrong way on the highway.
