The investigation is continuing into a report of an attempted robbery at around 4:10 p.m. February 13 at the JCPenny store in the Town of Cortlandville that has landed a Dryden man in Jail.

Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say 23 year old Dimitriy Bindas is accused of passing a note to a clerk demanding money.  While a weapon was mentioned, none was seen and the suspect fled with no money.

Authorities say the employee was able to provide a description of the suspect and the vehicle and a New York State Trooper spotted a car matching the description at a gas station on Route 13 in Dryden.

The Trooper, Dryden Police and Tompkins Cortland Community College Police took Bindas into custody.

Bindas is charged with felony attempted robbery and misdemeanor attempted grand larceny.

Sheriff’s officials say anyone with information is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at (607) 758-6151.
