Before I get into this story, I would just like to say that I consider the entire Southern Tier my neighbor.  So, keep that in mind when you are figuring out your will before you die.

Betty Harris who was 95 when she died in 2009, chose to leave her estate to her neighbor of 33 years.  Now, she did have a niece but thought the niece was trying to force her into a nursing home.  Her niece is the only relative she had, and had no close friends other than her neighbor.

Her neighbor, Beatrice Gray and her husband Robert, looked in on Betty and helped her a lot.  They would help her with changing light bulbs, taking out the garbage, organizing her bills and kept a spare key to check in and make sure no one robbed her.

And, by the way, her entire estate is worth $12.5 million!

How do you feel about your neighbor now?!
