After nearly a half century, it's almost closing time at Brothers 2 restaurant for Domenic Fata.

The restaurant on Watson Boulevard in Endwell has been a fixture for diners and special events since 1970, when Domenic founded the business with his brother, Luigi.

Domenic has been running Brothers 2 for the past several years and now he's decided to sell the place.

The two brothers who worked together at Grover's Pig Stand in Endwell in the 1960s started Brothers 2 nearly 47 years ago when they purchased Masi's Restaurant on Watson Boulevard.

In addition to serving lunch and dinner, the Brothers 2 meeting and banquet facilities hosted many special events over the decades.

Word of the impending sale of Brothers 2 had been circulating in recent weeks. The restaurant on Monday afternoon made on online announcement that it soon "will be closing its doors for the final time."

A celebration of the business is planned for Saturday at 5 p.m. with what's billed as an "official send off" for Domenic Fata and his wife, Mary.

The announcement said the last day of dining at the restaurant will be on Valentine's Day.

The operators of a nearby Endwell restaurant are expected to take control of the Brothers 2 property.
