A few years ago, I sat in Lourdes Hospital with a friend who was dying, holding her hand and talking about how I promised that I would never let anyone forget her. My friend smiled and told me that she had a few things up her sleeve, knowing she was going to die, and pulled out a notebook with a lit of things she planned to leave behind to remind her loved ones of her when she was gone. The insurmountable strength that my mama friend to think of letters to write and trinkets to have hidden in places for her kids to find.

I don't even know what I'd do without my husband. While we've only been married going on six years, I actually can't remember what my life was like before him and don't even want to think of facing life without him. My husband is literally the one who holds my word together. Jay is my sanity when I have none, my voice of reason, my protector, the love of my life. And, my husband is the master of sporadic romantic gestures that let me know that no matter how crazy our life might be, he still loves me deeply.

I'll warn you that this is one of those stories you might want to read with a fistful of tissues. I can't verify the legitimacy of this story, the Huffington Post shared a clip from an unknown magazine which tells the story of a 68-year-old woman named Sue Johnston from Houston, Texas whose husband has continued to shower her with love, even from beyond the grave.

My Sweet husband, John, and I were married for 46 years. Each Valentine's Day, he’d send me the most beautiful flowers containing a note with five simple words: "My love for you grows." Four children, 46 bouquets and a lifetime of love were his legacy to me when he passed away two years ago. On my first Valentine's Day alone, 10 months after I lost him, I was shocked to receive a gorgeous bouquet addressed to me ... from John. Angry and heartbroken, I called the florist to say there had been a mistake. The florist replied, "No, ma'am, it's not a mistake. Before he passed away, your husband prepaid for many years and asked us to guarantee that you’d continue getting bouquets every Valentine’s Day." With my heart in my throat, I hung up the phone and read the attached card. It said, 'My love for you is eternal.'"

Sue's husband isn't the only man who arranged to have flowers sent to her from beyond the grave. Jack Benny arranged for a single red rose to be delivered to his wife every single day following his death.

How romantic and thoughtful!
