So far, our 20th Food-A-Bago is going extremely well. We have already surpassed the monetary donations we collected last year, many times over. We have received a lot of food as well, but the need is far from over.

Hunger is a major issue here in the Binghamton area. There are a lot of residents who live below the poverty level including thousands of children and the elderly.

I feel blessed because I could go to my refrigerator or to the cupboards in my kitchen and get food pretty much whenever I want. If I don't like my choices, or the cupboards are getting low, I could just go to the grocery store and buy more. There are tens of thousands of people in Broome County alone that cannot do that, and that's why I make sure to donate every year.

There are also people that live paycheck-to-paycheck that have an unexpected expense pop up and then they can't afford to buy groceries for their children. You can help us help these people.

I've said it before and I will say it again, every little bit helps. Whether it's one box of cereal, one jar of peanut butter, one box of pasta, one can of vegetables, or any other kind of non-perishable food item.

While I was at the camper this week, a man stopped by and he handed me $3. He said he was sorry that it was such a small donation and he said he wished he could give more. I told him that with that $3, CHOW can turn that into 12 Meals. That means they could feed a family of four for an entire day. That's why we say every dollar helps.

All the food and money that we collect will stay right here in the Binghamton area helping out our neighbors in need. If you've already made a donation this year, Thank you. If you haven't yet, please give it serious consideration.

You can find our Food-A-Bago in the Weis parking lot on Upper Front Street in Binghamton. We are collecting food inside the Hillcrest RV Friday until 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. till 8 p.m., and Monday morning until 10 am.

You can also drop off non-perishable food items at Gary's U-Pull It, on Colesville Road in Binghamton if that is more convenient for you.

Please do what you can, and thank you!
