Former Chenango Valley Student Honored for Vietnam Service

A former Chenango Valley student, who quit school in 1967 to join the Marines during the Vietnam War is being memorialized at the school.

The Board of Education May 17 added Roger Jones to the district roll call of military heroes.

Jones was killed in an explosion as he slept in his barracks in Da Nag on November 4, 1969.

Jones is buried in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Castle Creek.
