I don't know about you, but I think it's amazing when someone gives me a homemade gift. It shows that they actually care and took time, precious time, to think of me and do something special.

My husband and I decided shortly after we got married that we'd try to give homemade gifts to people whenever possible not only because it's generally cheaper to make things by hand, but because it's something a little different than giving a generic gift. Last year, we canned applesauce and made hot cocoa mason jar mixes for Christmas gifts. This year, we're going to make foaming hand soap and jam.

A few years ago, one of my friends gave me homemade sugar scrub and I was so sad when I finished the batch. Each time I used it, I thought of my friend and what she means to me. If you want to do something different and special for friends and family this holiday season, how about giving them homemade sugar scrub, a lotion bar, and foaming hand soap?

The Broome County Public Library is hosting a free DIY Bath Products class this Saturday, November 5th at 10am. At the class, you'll learn how to make a sugar scrub, a lotion bar, and foaming hand soap and you'll be able to take what you make home.

Space is limited, so be sure to call 607-778-6451 to register!
