A Randolph, New York man is in the Delaware County Jail after being returned from Illinois when authorities say they found he was wanted in connection with a vehicle crash in 2015 in New York State that left his passenger with serious injuries.

47 year old Shawn Maynard is charged with driving while ability impaired by a combination of drugs and alcohol and felony counts of vehicular assault and assault.

The accident occurred January 18, 2015 on State Highway 30 in the Town of Colchester near the intersection with Holiday Brook Road.  A female passenger in Maynard’s car was seriously hurt in the crash.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Investigators, the New York State Police Troop C Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office have all been working on the case.

May 10th, a Delaware County Grand Jury handed down a sealed indictment and an arrest warrant was issued.  Six days later, Maynard was arrested on unrelated charges in Champaign County, Illinois and authorities held him as a fugitive from justice.  He waived extradition and was sent back to Delaware County May 31.
