The Johnson City Police Department plans to buy some body cameras and in-car technology upgrades while the Broome County Sheriff’s office is expected to ramp up substance abuse counseling, community outreach and buy more Narcan for overdose rescue.

Dozens of police, fire and crime victim support groups are sharing $300,000 in New York State grants in the region.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office has plans for prescription drug drop boxes and child ID systems.

The City of Binghamton has some of the funds earmarked for its diversity Minority Outreach Program while 14 fire departments in Broome, Tioga, Chenango and Delaware Counties plan equipment purchases ranging from radios to rescue equipment.

The Crime Victims Assistance Center in Binghamton and A New Hope Center in Tioga County are getting money for domestic violence services.
