Have you ever been told by someone that they thought one thing about you before they got to know you and then discovered that that assumption was not correct? Bustle explains that there are some habits that you might have that can make you seem harsh to other people even though you may not be!

  • Ignoring someone as you walk by whether your caught up in where you're going or have other things on your mind, but if you see someone that you know whenever you're out and about... say hello to them!
  • Saying whatever is on your mind and maybe speaking without thinking sometimes can both be a little off-putting to those who don't know you well and that can make you seem harsh to those in the room.
  • Interrupting someone as they are speaking can be considered rude and that can certainly make you seem a little harsh if the person you are speaking over does not know you too well. In general, it's best not to interrupt anyone when they are talking.

It's always best to get to know someone before passing judgement on anyone, but if you do any of these things, people may find you to be harsh even if you aren't normally that mean or that rude at all.
