The 4th of July holds a special place in my heart because I was lucky enough to grow up in a small river town where we had our own drive-in restaurant and a water ski team who put on shows for us as we sat on the bank of the river, enjoying an ice cream cone. Across the street from the drive-in and river was a huge park and that's where the entire town would congregate every 4th of July to watch the fireworks launch over the river. There were literally hundreds of people and if you weren't plopped down on a ratty old blanket in the park, you were missing the social event of the year.

Every year there would be a few vendors walking around with sparklers and noisemakers and I wasn't ever allowed to get one which totally bummed me out. I come from a family with seven kids and money was tight, so as an adult I understand why it would have been too expensive to let each of us pick out a toy that we probably would forget about a week later.

I don't remember if 3D fireworks glasses were a thing when I was a kid, but I do know they've been around for at least the last decade because as an adult, I went to a baseball game and treated myself t a pair of 3D glasses, If you've ever wondered what fireworks look like through those special glasses, you're about to find out!
