Hearing Set on Rezoning for Former West Endicott EJ Site
A public hearing will be held on a rezoning proposal for a Town of Union property being acquired by National Pipe and Plastics.
The company is planning to buy the old Endicott Johnson building on North Page Avenue in West Endicott from Broome County.
National Pipe officials want to tear down the abandoned factory and construct an office building at the site.
The Union town board is scheduled to hold a hearing at 7 p.m. Wednesday on a rezoning request. The session will take place at the town hall in Endwell.
An application has been submitted to change the property's zoning from urban multi-family to commercial office.
Following the hearing, the town board may act on a resolution dealing with the rezoning request for the site.
The Broome County legislature last month approved the sale of the property to National Pipe for $100,000.
The company officials have indicated they want to move the National Pipe headquarters from Vestal to the West Endicott location, which is adjacent to the firm's new Maple Street production facility.
