After the election last night and hearing the results from early this morning, we can all use a little bit of help with stress. Here are a few hobbies that you may want to adopt these next four years to reduce your stress.

  • Yoga which is probably the most obvious thing that you can start doing to relieve stress. It can also help with aches and pains, and help you to become more flexible.
  • Dancing is another fantastic stress reliever that can also translate into a great workout routine.
  • Reading, for us who are not the active types, can be a relaxing activity that you can do just before bed to also help you sleep.
  • Knitting, with the holidays coming up, you can both lower your stress levels and make wonderful gifts for family and friends.
  • Writing, keeping a diary has been shown to help people release a lot of negative emotions and thoughts, something that a lot of us with stress could benefit from doing.
  • Gardening, if you have a backyard or window ledge, gardening may be a good way to get rid of the stresses in your life.
  • Hiking, when the weather allows for it, getting outside and getting fresh air into your lungs can be the best way to let go of any stress in your life.

The next few years are going to have us all worried, so having something to distract us, and help us to keep our stress levels low, is vitally important.
