Going to the doctor can be costly, and if you weren't sick going into the office, you probably will be when you come out! Of course there are times we MUST go to the doctors but I thought I'd start sharing at home remedies for common ailments.

One thing many people are affected by is acne. So here are a few ways to treat acne at home. You can read the entire article here.

Chamomile Tea: A natural anti-inflammatory, chamomile can significantly reduce acne flare-ups. To use, soak a chamomile tea bag in cold water and apply to skin for 30 seconds. Chamomile tea can also be used in a facial mask. Mix a few teaspoons of strong chamomile tea and a small ripe banana into a paste.

Tea tree oil: Tea tree oil should be diluted—5% oil to 95% water when used as a home remedy for acne. It can be found in health stores and is also a popular ingredient in many commercial acne skin care products. I actually use tea tree oil and I think it works great.

Strawberries: Strawberries are a natural source of salicylic acid, an ingredient found in many commercial acne creams. To make a facial mask, mix 1/2 cup of pureed strawberries  with a tablespoon of sour cream and use weekly. You can also cut a strawberry in half and rub it directly on  your face for a few minutes to get a similar benefit. I'm going to try this one. I bet it smells really good too!

Colloidal oatmeal: To make colloidal oatmeal, grind rolled oats using a coffee mill or grinder. Cook the oatmeal and allow it to cool to lukewarm. Apply to skin, allowing it to dry until slightly crusty, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. I've used oatmeal before and also mixed in a little honey with it to gift your skin a nice glow.

What are some of the at home remedies you have tried?
