I am one of those people who has a very hard time shutting my mind off at night when it's time to go to bed. I think about what I didn't get done that day, what I need to get done tomorrow, what I'm making everyone for dinner, who needs to be picked up from school, what I need to get a t the grocery store. I could go on and on.

Before I know it I've slept two hours and it's time to go to work.

I have a hard time sleeping because of stress. I also worry about oversleeping and not getting to work on time, or my alarm doesn't go off.

Also, I'm a light sleeper so any noise wakes me up. There was a survey done to find out what causes people to have a bad night's sleep. I learned I'm not alone!

Here are the top 10 reasons we have a bad night's sleep. Check them out and see which one(s) affects you:

  1. Your significant other snores.
  2. Your significant other is restless and tosses and turns.
  3. You're worried about things...stress.
  4. It's too hot or cold.
  5. You're stressed about work. Similar to number 3 but this one is more specific to why you're stressed.
  6. You know you have to be up early.
  7. The bed is uncomfortable.
  8. You hear noises outside.
  9. Your kids wake you up.
  10. Pain in your joints or muscle aches.

5 out of 10 of those affect my sleep. One thing I try to do before bed is hypnosis, which helps me relax. I also try to fall asleep listening to it. I know some people think it's a bit wacky, but don't knock it till you try it!

What things on this list affect you from having a good nights sleep? What do you do have a better nights sleep?
