Is Subway’s Footlong Subs Really A Footlong?

People online are upset now that Subway's footlong subs, aren't really a foot long. It's only 11 inches.

The controversy started when a guy in Australia posted a photo of his footlong with a measuring tape, showing that it's not 12 inches but exactly 11 inches.

Several others followed his lead, and posted their photos of their Subway footlongs that weren't measuring up!  Not just in Australia, either these photos are coming from everywhere, including the U.S.

One theory floating around that the bread starts at 12 inches but shrinks when it's toasted.  There is another theory too. That Subway has never served 12-inch bread, but it took someone this long to actually notice.

So far there's no official response from Subway.
