Do you know where your cell phone is? Is it attached to your hand at all times? Are you reading this article on your cell phone right now? If so, you could be one of those individuals who suffer from cell phone separation anxiety.

Surprisingly, separation from your cell phone can be tough on you physically and mentally, according to a study done at Missouri University. This anxiety includes physiological anxiety and poor cognitive performance. An experiment was held where participants were asked to put together a puzzle with their phones nearby and again without their phones within reach.

While their phones were away, the observers took advantage of the participants by constantly calling and text messaging the participants. Their heart rates, blood pressure and concentration were monitored during the second puzzle process. The outcome? Higher heart rates, blood pressure levels and lack of focus.

So how do we continue to complete daily tasks without checking Facebook every minute? Silence the phones, but keep them nearby.
